Des Moines Buccaneers News Release
It's rivalry week at the Madhouse on Hickman when the Omaha Lancers and Lincoln Stars travel to take on the Des Moines Buccaneers in the final USHL action before holiday break.
On Friday, December 18th, the Omaha Lancers will play the Des Moines Buccaneers for the sixth time this season. After Omaha got off to a hot start, winning the first three games in the 8-game season series, the Buccaneers have bounced back to win the last two, both on the road at Ralston Arena. The Buccaneers have used a balanced attack against the Lancers and captain Patrick Grasso is leading the way with three goals in the five contests against Omaha. Zach Jordan has the only game-winning goal (Nov 14) against Omaha this year, while Alec Rauhauser scored the lone goal in a shootout victory (Oct 25) in which Jan Ruzicka stopped all five shots he saw. Omaha goaltender Kris Oldham has had Des Moines' number so far, as he is 2-0-0 against the Buccaneers with a 1.42 goals against average and 0.955 save percentage. After the weekend the two teams will meet twice more, at Ralston Arena on Saturday, January 2nd, and at Buccaneer Arena on Friday, January 22nd.
The Buccaneers will follow that up with a matchup against the Lincoln Stars 24 hours later on Saturday, December 19th. The Lincoln Stars have also already faced the Buccaneers five times on the season, and while they too took an early lead in the season series winning the first two games against the Bucs, Des Moines has come back to defeat the Stars the last three meetings, including last Saturday, December 12th. Kenny Hausinger and Georgy Gorodetsky lead the way with 5 points against the Stars (4 goals, 1 assist and 2 goals, 3 assists) while Nikita Pavlychev, Patrick Grasso and Ty Pelton-Byce all have 4 points against Lincoln. Pavlychev has two game-winning goals against the Lincoln Stars (Oct 27 and Nov 28), while Zach Jordan has the most recent (Dec 12). The last two times these teams will meet in the regular season this year at Buccaneer Arena on Friday, February 12th, and at the Ice Box in Lincoln on Friday, March 4th.
Tickets are available for both games; call the box office at (515) 278-2827 or online at http://www.etix.com/ticket/v/3051/buccaneer-arena-des-moines-buccaneers.
