Muskegon Lumberjacks News Release

Muskegon, MI - The Muskegon Lumberjacks completed a wild comeback against the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders, with a 5-4 overtime thriller.

Cedar Rapids struck early in the first period, when Hugh McGing snuck a wrist shot past Lumberjack goalie Joey Daccord, giving the Roughriders an early 1-0 lead.

That lead lasted mere seconds, as Muskegon center Logan Drevitch netted his second goal of the season, tying up the contest, 1-1. Max Humitz gave the Lumberjacks their first lead of the night, when he scored his 2nd of the season, on a backhanded rebound past RoughRiders goaltender, Benjamin Blacker.

The Lumberjacks did not let up, and captain Trevor Hamilton tipped in his 5th goal of the season, early in the second period to give the Lumberjacks a 3-1 lead.

The RoughRiders would respond back with three unanswered goals. Zac Robbins netted one, and McGing scored the other two, to complete his hat trick, and give the RoughRiders a 4-3 lead.

Late in the third period, the Lumberjacks were awarded a power play opportunity, and after being held off the score sheet on the pervious ten power plays, Muskegon capitalized with just 1:55 left, when Mitch Eliot blasted a shot in from the blue line to tie the game, 4-4.

The Lumberjacks started the overtime session on the power play, and it did not take long for them to complete the comeback. Collin Adams slapped home a rebound to give the Lumberjacks a 5-4 come from behind overtime victory. Muskegon is now (5-2) in the extra frame.

The Muskegon Lumberjacks (11-9-2) will look to continue the momentum in a rematch with the Cedar Rapids RoughRiders (15-7-2) tomorrow. It will be the last game before the holiday break, as the Lumberjacks will host their Ugly Sweater Party. Puck drop is at 7:15 p.m.
