Caps Welcome Stars on Turkey Drive Night
December 18, 2015 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Madison Capitols News Release
Madison, WI - The Madison Capitols (8-13-1-2) will play host to the Lincoln Stars (16-9-0-0) on Friday night inside the Alliant Energy Center. Puck drop is set for 7:05 p.m. with coverage on 106.7 FM, 1670 AM, The Zone.
Fans who bring in a frozen turkey for donation to the Salvation Army of Dane County will receive tickets to a future Capitols game. Those in attendance are also encouraged to wear their best ugly sweater in the Capitols' final home game before the players' Christmas break.
The Capitols will try to snap out of a funk that has seen them drop 13 of their last 15 contests, and they will attempt to do so against the USHL's top team. A season after finishing dead last in the Western Conference, the Stars stormed out of the gates this season, winning 12 of their first 15 games.
The goaltending has been by committee for the Stars, with Peyton Jones (eight wins, three shutouts, .923 save percentage) and Patrik Virtanen (eight wins, .914 save percentage) each picking up the slack on the back end for Lincoln.
The Stars, who were victors in each of the two matchups with the Capitols a season ago, are paced offensively by Ludvig Hoff. The North Dakota commit and Norwegian born winger has been contributing at more than a point-per-game pace, with 25 in his first 23 games.
While the results have not been showing for the Capitols of late, there have been bright spots, none moreso than goaltender Ryan Edquist being named to the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game earlier this week. The 17-year-old commit to the University of Minnesota has registered rookie best marks in save percentage (.923) and goals-against average (2.55).
Following the first of two matchups with Lincoln on the season, the Capitols will wrap up their pre-Christmas slate with a visit to the Resch Center against the Green Bay Gamblers on Saturday. The fifth installment of the Wisconsin Cheese Cup series will kick off at 7 p.m. on Saturday on 106.7 FM, 1670 AM, The Zone.
The Capitols will return home following the holiday break to play host to the Dubuque Fighting Saints one final time in the 2015-16 season on Tuesday, Dec. 29 at 7:05 p.m. Family Four Packs are back for this one, as a family can receive four tickets, four hot dogs, four sodas, and four bags of chips for just $48.
Family Four Packs are only available when purchased in advance and will not be available on game day. To purchase yours, call (608) 257-CAPS (2277) or visit www.MadCapsHockey.com.
