Weather changes Mussina plans
April 27, 2007 - Eastern League (EL1)
Harrisburg Senators News Release
The Trenton Thunder, Class AA Affiliate of the New York Yankees, announced this morning that Mike Mussina will not pitch in Harrisburg on Friday.
Mussina was scheduled to make a major league rehab start for Trenton in Harrisburg, but the plans were changed after the New York Yankees learned there was a good chance for rain.
According to the New York Daily News web site, Mussina will pitch a simulated game instead. From the web site:
MOOSE RAINED OUT: With rain in the forecast, plans to have Mussina (hamstring) pitch tonight for Double-A Trenton in Harrisburg, Pa. were scrapped last night. Instead, Mussina said he will throw about 50-60 pitches in a simulated game in the bullpen tonight and that he hopes to rejoin the rotation "five days after that."
Yankee top prospect Chase Wright is scheduled to take Mussina's spot on the mound for the Thunder Friday night. Game time is 6:05 P.M. with fireworks following the game.
Trenton will be in Harrisburg for a Saturday night game at 6:05 P.M. (Mini -bats) and Sunday afternoon at 1:05 P.M. (Promo Magnets)
