(Portland, ME) - The Sea Dogs returned home after eight days away from Hadlock Field and defeated the New Hampshire Fisher Cats, 6-2 in the series opener on Friday night in front of 5,255.

Matt Goodson (1-0) picked up the victory for Portland in his first career start at Hadlock Field. The right-hander allowed two runs over five innings and surrendered all three hits in the third inning. Kyle Jackson and Beau Vaughan worked two scoreless innings apiece to end Portland's two-game losing streak.

Jacoby Ellsbury went 4-for-4, reaching base five times with four singles and a hit-by-pitch. Portland's 7 through 9 hitters (Brown 2-for-5, Borowiak 2-for-4 and Pritz 2-for-3) combined to go 6-for-10 with 2 RBI and two runs scored.

Ricky Romero took his first loss of the season for New Hampshire, yielding seven hits and three runs over five innings.

Portland rallied from a 2-0 deficit, scoring a run in the third inning on Jeff Natale's two-out RBI single. The home team added two runs in the fourth on RBI singles by Dusty Brown and Bryan Pritz.

In the eighth inning, Zach Borowiak led off with a single and as the ball reached the outfield the lights on the first base side went out. The power outage caused a 14-minute delay. When play resumed, the Sea Dogs scored three times on bases loaded walks by Iggy Suarez, Eric Crozier and Jed Lowrie.

The Sea Dogs improved to 3-2 against New Hampshire and 2-2 at Hadlock Field.
