Washington Wizards Sign Gary Payton II to a 10-Day Contract

WASHINGTON, D.C. - The Washington Wizards have announced today that the team has signed guard guard Gary Payton ll to a 10-day contract.This marks the third Gatorade call-up for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, NBA G League Affiliate of the Houston Rockets, this season, giving them a total of 32 overall.

Payton ll (6-3, 195) appeared and started in 13 games for the Vipers, averaging 19.2 points per game. He achieved a season-high of 31 points on January 18, his most recent game with RGV, when they faced Memphis Hustle at Bert Ogden Arena. Generous on offense, Payton ll averaged 6.5 assists per game to go along with 8.2 rebounds and 3.3 steals in 33 minutes per contest. In addition, Payton II shot 45% from the floor.

Over his two-year NBA career with the Milwaukee Bucks and Los Angeles Lakers, Payton II has appeared in 29 games (six starts) and has averaged 3.1 points, 1.9 rebounds and 1.2 assists.
