Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Moose Jaw, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors are loading up the bus and heading to Brandon for a potential first round preview.
The Warriors and Wheat Kings lock horns in Moose Jaw's final road game of the 2023-24 regular season.
"We feel good about our game right now," Warriors head coach Mark O'Leary said. "Right now it's about us and our details and making sure that we feel real good about our structure and those details going into game one of the playoffs."
The Warriors are coming off a busy weekend that saw the team collect four out of six points, including a split of an emotion home-and-home set with Saskatoon and then a Sunday win in Regina.
O'Leary said it was an important weekend for the team as they bounced back from a tough loss on Friday in Saskatoon to score a big win on home ice on Saturday.
"Those moments are big for us, just to go through them as a group," he said. "That's what playoffs is all about, those emotional roller coasters, the highs, the lows, but it's important just to come back and refocus on what you do well and we did a good job of that."
With just two games remaining in the regular season and the Warriors locked into second place in the Eastern Conference, the team is focused on making sure it's game is in the right place heading into the playoffs.
O'Leary said that comes down to the little details of the game.
"That's been the mindset for the last little while now, just making sure that everybody's on the same page in terms of what we're trying to do and just doing it consistently," he said.
"We've taken big steps in that direction in the last couple of weeks and we're just looking to build on that."
The Warriors could potentially meet up with the Wheat Kings in the first round of the 2024 WHL Playoffs.
O'Leary said the Wheat Kings present a good test.
"We need to make sure that we're not giving them an easy transition the other way and making sure when we're in the offensive zone that we have depth so that we're in position to track the rush," he said.
The Warriors and Wheat Kings meet at 6 p.m. Saskatchewan time on Thursday night.
