Warriors Set to Host Broncos for Preseason Game in Assiniboia

Moose Jaw, SK - The Moose Jaw Warriors Hockey Club is excited to announce that the organization will be hosting a preseason game in Assiniboia at the Southland Co-op Centre.

The Warriors will entertain the Swift Current Broncos on Saturday, Sep. 9 at the new facility in southern Saskatchewan.

"We are excited as an organization to bring the Western Hockey League to the Town of Assiniboia for the first time ever," Warriors general manager Jason Ripplinger said.

"It's a great opportunity for the Warriors to get out to Southern Saskatchewan and showcase our league. We would like to thank the Town of Assiniboia and the Swift Current Broncos for making this great event happen."

This is the first preseason game that the Warriors have hosted outside of Moose Jaw.

"The Town of Assiniboia is thrilled to be bringing the WHL to the Heart of the Golden South. Our Community looks forward to seeing two Trans-Canada rivals battle it out in our brand new Southland Co-op Centre," said Assiniboia Mayor Sharon Schauenberg.

Ticket details for the game will be released at a later date.

Moose Jaw will open the 2023 preseason in Swift Current on Thursday, Sep. 7 and then travel to Assiniboia for a home game two nights later.

The Warriors will finish the preseason the next weekend with a home-and-home against the Brandon Wheat Kings, at Westoba Place on Friday, Sep. 15 and the Moose Jaw Events Centre on Saturday, Sep. 16.

The 2023-24 regular season schedule will be released on Tuesday.
