Warriors Return Home to Battle Wheat Kings

Moose Jaw Warriors News Release
Moose Jaw, SK - After a disappointing weekend in Alberta, the Moose Jaw Warriors are hoping a return to the Hangar will be just what the doctor ordered.
"Obviously, we're not happy with the results, but at the end of the day, those are two games that we wanted to win, we expected to win, but we can't dwell on the past, it's all about what we can do right now," Warriors head coach Mark O'Leary said.
"I thought we had a real good week [of practice] here and we're ready to go for Thursday."
The Warriors will be back on home ice for two games this week, starting with a Thursday showdown against the Brandon Wheat Kings at the Moose Jaw Events Centre.
Warriors captain Denton Mateychuk said the team learned some valuable lessons in their two losses to Calgary and Edmonton last weekend.
"Mostly that just every game matters," he said. "It doesn't matter who you're playing or where you're playing, doesn't matter if it's the Saddledome, Rogers Place or here in Moose Jaw, it's the same team.
"It's different playing on the road than at home, we're a lot more comfortable, but that's something you've got to overcome."
The Warriors remain among the leaders in the Eastern Conference, sitting fourth with a 10-8-0-0 record and four points behind Saskatoon and Medicine Hat for first place.
Moose Jaw is also ranked seventh in the Canadian Hockey League's top-10.
O'Leary said bouncing back from a tough weekend forces the Warriors to focus on their standards.
"We talk about it right from the get-go, it's about our habits, getting back to our game and dictating the play, not being so reactive to what other teams are doing, but coming out of the gate flying and getting to our game in a hurry," he said.
The Warriors are 1-2 against the Wheat Kings so far this season.
"The games we've played against them, I like our urgency, I like our game, I just think that, especially early on here, not feeding into what they do in their transition game, so making sure we have smart depth and managing pucks," O'Leary said.
"In the offensive zone, just being puck ready and willing and ready to score goals any way possible."
The Warriors and Wheat Kings face-off at 7 p.m. on Thursday night in downtown Moose Jaw.
Tune into all the action on WHL Live and Country 100, starting with the Pre-Game Show at 6:40 p.m.
