Warriors Have Tough Night in Brandon

Moose Jaw Warriors News Release

The Moose Jaw Warriors could not climb out of a first-period deficit and fell 11-t to the Brandon Wheat Kings Friday at Westoba Place.

The Wheat Kings picked up an early power-play and they were able to capitalize, Ridly Greig scored 2:59 into the opening period on a one-time from inside the right circle.

Greig's goal was the Wheat Kings Teddy Bear Toss goal after they cleaned up the ice, Brandon kept coming.

46 seconds later Luka Burzan made it 2-0 and then less than a minute later, Greig scored another power-play goal to put Brandon up by three.

Brandon extended their lead nine minutes into the period on Burzan's second goal and they went up 5-0 with a late power-play goal from Lynden McCallum.

Getting to the six-minute mark of the second period, Bryden Kiesman showed good speed when he jumped on a loose puck and came down the Brandon boards and then cut the corner to the net.

Kiesman was stopped on his opportunity but the Wheat Kings were not able to clear the puck, which allowed Tate Popple to ram in his third goal of the season to get Moose Jaw on the board.

Brandon was limited to just seven shots in the second period, but they were able to pick up three more goals to take an 8-1 lead into the second intermission.

The third period saw the Wheat Kings toss more salt in the Warriors wounds, as they added three more goals and went on to hand Moose Jaw an 11-1 loss.

The Warriors are back at home Saturday to wrap up their pre-Christmas schedule with their only meeting of the season against the Memorial Cup hosting Kelowna Rockets.

Tickets are available at the Mosaic Place Box Office or online at www.mjwarriors.ca.
