Warriors Hand Bakersfield Worst Double-Digit Loss of the Season

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - The Santa Cruz Warriors defeated the Bakersfield Jam 95-77, handing them their greatest margin of defeat all season. Six different Warriors scored in double-figures to back the resounding win on the road for Santa Cruz.

Dominique Sutton paced the Warriors with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 3 steals on a 9 of 13 shooting effort. Mychel Thompson and Taylor Griffin each scored 15 points, while Ognjen Kuzmic recorded a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. Aaron Craft had an all-around solid night adding 12 points, 7 assists, 6 rebounds, and a game-high 5 steals.

Bakersfield received a strong performance from T.J. Warren who notched a double-double with 15 points and 10 rebounds for the Jam. Joe Jackson and Jamil Wilson were the only other two who scored in double-figures for Bakersfield, adding 14 points and 10 points, respectively.

Santa Cruz would get the early lead just four minutes into the first quarter, and would never relinquish it for the remainder of the game, leading by as many as 21 points in the fourth quarter.

The Warriors led in every major statistical category including field goal percentage (48%-38%), rebounds (48-41), assists (24-21), steals (11-7), and had fewer turnovers (13-19). Santa Cruz also had more points in the paint (60-34), more fast break points (17-8), and more second chance points (11-10).

Santa Cruz and Bakersfield will meet again on February 10th when the Jam will travel to Santa Cruz, tipping off at 7:00 p.m. at Kaiser Permanente Arena. The Warriors will first play at Idaho on Saturday, then will finish their road trip at Los Angeles on Sunday.
