Ward Headed to Arizona Fall League

Frederick, MD - Frederick Keys Catcher Brian Ward has been named to the prestigious Arizona Fall League and will play for the Mesa Solar Sox with former Keys Xavier Avery (2010), Sean Gleason (2009-11), Joe Mahoney (2009-11), and Chorye Spoone (2007, 2009). Former Key and current Minnesota Twins prospect Brett Jacobson (2009-10) will also be on the club.

Ward, 25, an undrafted free agent in 2009 out of Lewis-Clark State, is in his second season as the Keys starting catcher. In 2011, Ward has hit .253 with seven home runs, 21 doubles and 30 runs batted in his 100 games with Frederick. Behind the plate Ward has been phenomenal throwing out 52% of runners attempting to steal.

2009-11 Frederick Key Kyle Hudson has been called up to the big leagues. The Keys leadoff hitter and centerfielder to open the 2011 campaign, Hudson has excelled with Triple-A Norfolk, basting .297 in 68 games with the Tides. Hudson hit .279 in 23 games with Frederick in 2011, playing his last game as a Key on May 3rd. He is the second member of the 2011 Keys to reach the major leagues along with right-handed pitcher Mitch Atkins.
