Walleye Notes

Ø A Five Point Week! Toledo continued its strong start with a 2-0-1 week. On Friday night the Walleye raced out to a 5-0 lead over the Fort Wayne Komets and finished with a 6-2 win. Toledo scored three second period goals on Saturday to edge out Orlando 4-3. It was another shootout Sunday with Reading taking the game 4-3 by outscoring Toledo 2-1 in the shootout.

Ø A new Walleye Record! Forward Anthony Luciani picked up points in the first two games of the week to set a new Walleye record for the longest point streak at ten games. He broke the previous mark of nine games set by defenseman JC Sawyer from October 17 through November 7, 2009.

Ø Leading the Way! Goaltender Jeff Lerg leads the ECHL in goals against average at 1.81 and also in save percentage at .936. Lerg has a record of 4-1-0-1 on the season. Forward Anthony Luciani is tied for the ECHL lead in points with 16 and also in assists with 12.

Ø Another Three Game Week Ahead! Toledo will host division rival Fort Wayne Wednesday morning to start the week. Toledo defeated the Komets 6-2 last Friday night. Friday night is the first meeting of the season between Toledo and Greenville. It is the first of three contests played this year against the Road Warriors. Saturday night, the Evansville IceMen will be in town. Toledo beat the IceMen 5-0 in the first meeting of the season.

Ø Promotions! Wednesday is a School Celebration Day sponsored by BCSN with a special 10:30 a.m. start time. It will feature a special appearance from Imagination Station! Saturday is Superhero night with the Walleye. The day begins with the annual Battle of the Badges game featuring the Toledo Fire Department against the Toledo Police Department starting at 4 p.m. The Walleye that night will be wearing the special Batman jerseys and Evansville will take the ice in the Riddler, with both being auctioned off following the game. Saturday also features the annual Teddy Bear Toss sponsored by BCSN. Fans are encouraged to bring a teddy bear to the game or purchase one in the swamp shop and throw them on the ice after the Walleye score their first goal! The bears will go to Lucas County Children Services and the Fire Department to get them to children in need this holiday season.
