Goaltender Simpson Assigned to Thunder

Stockton, Calif. - The Stockton Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the NHL's New York Islanders and AHL's Bridgeport Sound Tigers, have been loaned goaltender Kent Simpson by the Thunder's NHL affiliate.

Simpson, 22, is a former second round draft selection by the Chicago Blackhawks back in 2010, and even made an appearance in the NHL with the Chicago Blackhawks last season.

The Edmonton, Alberta native played parts of five seasons with the Everett Silvertips of the WHL before heading the Rockford IceHogs of the AHL. In 2012-13, Simpson appeared in 41 ECHL games posting a 20-14-5 record, a 2.36 goals-against-average and a .912 save-percentage, even picking up ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors while with the Toledo Walleye.

In 2013-14 Simpson played in 31 games for the IceHogs and made his NHL debut on December 14, 2013 when he came in for the Blackhawks in the third period in a game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Simpson was assigned to the Colorado Eagles to start this season where he appeared in 3 games. In limited action, Simpson posted a 1-2-0 record with a 3.71 goals-against-average and .904 save-percentage.
