
Walleye Defeated 8-3 in Greenville

(Greenville, SC)-Toledo scored a pair of power play goals just 16 seconds apart, but allowed a season high 8 goals in an 8-3 loss at Greenville. Toledo is 22-24-2-2 on the season and 10-12-2-0 away from home.
Greenville would grab the first goal of the game at 8:32 of the first period. Toledo would tie the game at 9:46 of the first when defenseman Joey Ryan beat Greenville goaltender Jason Missiaen with a slap shot from the right circle. Kyle Rogers and Nick Oslund assisted on the third goal of the season from Ryan. Greenville would regain the lead at 18:07 of the first when a shot from the blue line deflected past Alec Richards.
"This is one of the best offensive teams that we will play all season long," said Head Coach Nick Vitucci. "We stressed defensive zone coverage, and being very physical. We did that for 40 minutes and let them get going in the third period." Greenville would extend their lead to 3-1 at 9:48 of the second. Toledo would counter with a five on three power play goal from Harrison Reed at 14:20 of the period. Joey Martin and Kyle Rogers assisted on the 12th goal of the year from Reed. Toledo would tie the game just 16 seconds later when Mike Thomas slammed a rebound into the Greenville net. Rogers and Martin also assisted on the second goal of the year from Thomas. Greenville would regain the lead just 51 seconds into the third period with a power play goal. The Road Warriors would then score four more goals to collect the win. Richards was lifted in the third period after the seventh goal. Walleye Notes: Walleye goaltender Alec Richards finished with 21 saves and is 4-1-0-0 on the season. Dustin Carlson made 10 saves once coming into the game with 11:21 left. Walleye forward Riley Emmerson fought fellow heavyweight TJ Reynolds in the second period. Toledo finished 2-3 on the power play. The eight goals is a season high allowed by the Walleye. The Toledo Walleye will return home for game on February 24th, and February 25th to play the Wheeling Nailers. The game on the 25th is NASCAR Night Presented By Nationwide Insurance, The AOK Insurance & Financial Services Agency.
