BILOXI, Miss. â The Mississippi Sea Wolves announced today team captain Steffon Walby has been named the organization's 'Player of the Month' for October. Forward Jeff Hutchins captured âRookie of the Month' honors and Greg Gardner took the award for âGoaltender of the Month'.
Walby, 29, leads the East Coast Hockey League with 17 points. The 6-foot, 200-pound native of Lodi, Wisconsin scored five goals and registered 12 assists and finished a plus-6 during the month of October. Walby is in his second season with the Sea Wolves and 10th year of professional hockey.
Hutchins, 24, tallied two goals and picked up one assist to go along with a plus-6 rating for October. The 6-foot, 205-pound native of Toronto, Ontario signed as a free agent with the Sea Wolves on September 27.
Gardner, 26, appeared in the eight games for Mississippi during the month of October, playing in all but 22 minutes. The 6-foot, 190-pound native of Toronto, Ontario finished the month with a 6-2-0 record, 2.73 goals against average and .917 save percentage. Gardner signed as a free agent with Mississippi on October 5.
The Sea Wolves get back into action at home tonight at 7:35 p.m. against the Arkansas RiverBlades. All military showing identification at Friday home games, receive two regular priced tickets for the price of one. The offer also applies to military season ticket holders.
Mississippi travels to Pensacola tomorrow, for a 7:05 p.m. opening faceoff at the Pensacola Civic Center.
The Sea Wolves round out the weekend with a Sunday home contest against the Louisiana IceGators at 5:05 p.m. At all Sunday home games, adults purchasing an individual ticket, will receive one FREE ticket for a child 12 and under. The offer also applies to season ticket holders showing identification.
