Greensboro Generals News Release
Greensboro, N.C.-- The Greensboro Generals improved to 4-3-2 on the season with a 3-2 victory over the Lexington Men O'War. In the four-game homestand at the Greensboro Coliseum the Generals finished with a record of 2-1-1. For the Generals offensively, Sam Ftorek scored the first Generals goal, his fifth of the season, on assists from Shane Campbell and Matt Chandler 5:36 into the contest. It stayed that way until midway through the second period, when a flurry of three goals just 37 seconds apart quickly brought the score to 2-2. Lexington would tie the game in the second period with a goal by Mike Sgroi, only to have the Generals answer 29 seconds later on a goal by Chris Bell, with assists from Vlad Serov and David Whitworth. Just eight seconds later, Lexington's Van Burgess countered to tie the score. At the 15:21 mark of the second period, Vlad Serov would score the eventual game-winning goal on a breakaway feed from Chris Bell. Goaltender Daniel Berthiaume, who was spectacular in a 31-save performance, also notched an assist on the game-winning goal.
With the win, the Generals now improve to 3-0 on the season against the ECHL expansion Men O'War.
The Generals travel to Charlotte to face the Charlotte Checkers on November 2 at 7:35, then visit the Roanoke Express on November 8th. They return home November 9th, where they face the PeeDee Pride at 7:30 at the Greensboro Coliseum.
