PRINCETON, N.J. - Former Hampton Roads Admirals and current Minnesota Wild left wing Andrew Brunette is the DirecTV/NHL Center Ice East Coast Hockey League Alumnus of the Month for October.

The DirecTV/ECHL Alumnus of the Month is awarded to a former ECHL player currently playing in the National Hockey League. There have been 196 former ECHL players that have gone on to play in the NHL, including 47 in the 2002-03 season.

Brunette leads Minnesota with four power-play goals and is tied for the team lead in goals with six while ranking second in points with 11.

Brunette led Minnesota with 69 points, 48 assists and 10 power-play goals in 81 games last season, giving him the most points scored by a free agent that signed with a new team in 2001-02. He has improved his point total in each of his seven seasons in the NHL, and has posted back-to-back years of 50-plus points.

In his eighth season in the NHL, Brunette has scored 260 career points (94g-166a). He signed as a free agent with Minnesota prior to the 2001-02 season after two seasons with Atlanta. He scored the first goal in Nashville history on October 13, 1998 against Carolina. Nashville selected him from Washington in the 1998 NHL Expansion Draft, following three seasons with the Capitals where he scored 40 points (18g-22a) in 62 regular season games and four points (1g-3a) in six postseason games.

Brunette began his professional career in 1993-94 with Hampton Roads scoring 30 points (12g-18a) in 20 regular season games and 13 points (7g-6a) in seven postseason games with Hampton Roads in 1993-94.
