Express Make Changes to Roster

ROANOKE, VA – The Roanoke Express has made a number of changes on its roster heading into this weekend's games, it was announced by Head Coach Perry Florio today.

The Express received defenseman Scott Balan from the Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League today. The 20-year-old rookie from Reed Deer, Alberta, played in two games with the Admirals and had no points and 15 penalty minutes. Balan, a fourth round draft pick (106th overall) by the Chicago Blackhawks in 2000, spent all of last season with the Saskatoon Blades of the Western Hockey League, picking up 11 points in 27 games. The defenseman split the 2000-2001 season in the WHL between the Blades and the Regina Pats, scoring a combined 12 points 70 games, while picking up 118 PIM.

In addition to receiving Balan, the Express activated defenseman Duncan Dalmao from the 7-day Injured Reserve, and placed defenseman Cole Fischer and forward David Silverstone on the IR. Fischer was placed on the 7-day IR, while Silverstone was placed on the 30-day IR with an injured shoulder. Forward Mike Peron was also moved from the 7-day IR to the 30-day IR while he continues to recover from a pulled hamstring.
