Wal-Mart Teams With Oilers For Turkey Shoot

December 6, 2006 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Tulsa Oilers News Release

Wal-Mart and the Tulsa Oilers are teaming up for an old fashioned turkey shoot December 15th, giving fans the chance to win a turkey for Christmas dinner or while watching their favorite Bowl game.

But this turkey shoot won't involve shotguns. In fact, the explosive noise that night will be generated in part by the 2,500 pair of cheer sticks handed out by Green Country Cycle City.

At the Oilers game with Youngstown on December 15th (7:35 p.m. face-off time) the first 39 fans who spend $50 or more at the Oilers merchandise stand will go on the ice after the game and shoot to win a turkey from Wal-Mart. There will be 39 turkeys available, so the first 39 fans who qualify by making the $50 minimum purchase will all have the chance to take home a Wal-Mart turkey.

In addition to the turkey shoot, the December 15th game is the annual Oilers Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are asked to bring Teddy bears to throw onto the ice after the Oilers first goal. The bears will be collected and donated to the Salvation Army. Prior to the game fans can go by a special donation table, show their bears, and be entered into a drawing to have lunch with Oilers coach Butch Kaebel and their favorite Oiler player.

The Salvation Army is also conducting a food and coat drive at the game. Fans who bring a food item, or a coat to donate to the Salvation Army will also be entered into a drawing to have lunch with Oilers coach Butch Kaebel and their favorite Oiler player.

The Oilers, riding a four game winning streak, play in Odessa on Friday at 7 p.m. and in Wichita on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. Both of those games can be heard on KRVT AM 1270 and via the internet at www.tulsaoilers.com.

. The Oilers next home game is Tuesday December 12th against the Memphis RiverKings at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are available at the Carson Attraction box office located in the Tulsa Convention Center, all Drug Mart locations and by calling (918) 584-2000.
