Rocky Mountain Rage News Release

Broomfield, Colo. - In a close game to the end, the Rocky Mountain Rage hockey team's three-game home winning streak came to an end tonight at the Broomfield Event Center. In-state rival, the Colorado Eagles, defeated the Rage 3-1. Left winger Nathan Rosychuk scored the lone goal for Rocky Mountain and Rage goaltender David Guerrera made 26 saves.

Rocky Mountain owns a 6-10-2 record for fourth place in the northwest division, while the Eagles improved to 13-4-0 and first place in the division.

It was a slow start for scoring in tonight's game. After a scoreless first period, the Eagles drew the first goal, in period two scoring at 3:31 after Ed McGrane poked the puck in net on the team's third rebound shot. Rocky Mountain's Anders Strome earned a breakaway opportunity at 9:37 of the period for the team's best scoring chance in the first half of the game, but he was unable to capitalize on the opportunity. Winger Scott Polaski gave Colorado a 2-0 lead with a power-play goal at 11:25. Rosychuk answered back shooting the puck past Colorado goalie Marco Emond at 14:02 and cutting the Eagles' lead to one goal.

In the third period, Rage defenseman Jordan Little thought he had tied the game 2-2 at 5:00. He fired the puck past the Eagles defense and in net from the blueline right off the faceoff, but it was ruled offsides and the goal was waived off. Rocky Mountain remained scoreless the rest of the period. Eagles' Reilly Nelson added an empty net goal to cap off the scoring as time ran out.
