Bucks Rally To Beat Rayz Again, 2-1 In OT

LAREDO, Texas - The defending CHL President's Cup Champion Laredo Bucks rallied for the second straight game to beat the Corpus Christi Rayz, this time doing it in overtime 2-1 in front of 6,212 fans in the annual McDonald's Kids Day Matinee game on Wednesday at the LEC. Forward Jeff Bes won the game 2:17 into overtime with a wrist shot from the high slot. The Bucks are 11-6-2 and with back-to-back wins remain in first place in the Southeast Division with a Southern Conference best 24 points. Laredo is home on Friday night against the Austin Ice Bats. Fans can get four tickets, four hot dogs, and four sodas (a $100 value) for $48. Plus the first 2,250 fans have a chance to win a Texas Lottery ticket. The Bucks are offering a family four pack of season tickets for the 2006-07 CHL regular season, which works out to just over $7 a seat per game and is a 48 % savings off walkup prices. The Rayz scored the only goal of the first period on the power play. Defenseman Todd Paul's shot deflected off the body of forward Kevin Watters and into the net at 6:36 to make it 1-0 Corpus Christi.

Neither team was able to score in the second period.

In the third period the Bucks finally were able to crack thru on a power play chance of their own. Forward Leo Thomas moved down the right wing, then centered to cutting defenseman Adam Rivet who scored on a wrist shot to tie the game at 11:04. It was the sixth of the season for Rivet.

The game headed to overtime. In sudden death Bes cut to the high slot and scored on a screened wrist shot to win it at 2:17. It was his second of the season, with both being game winners. FINAL SCORE Laredo 2, Corpus Christi 1 in sudden death.

Eric Marvin stopped 20 of 21 shots to get the win and improve to 6-3-2. Ron Vogel allowed two goals on 38 shots and took the tough luck loss to drop to 6-6-3. The Bucks were 1-7 on the power play while Corpus Christi went 1-4. The Bucks out shot the Rayz 38-21.

2006-07 BUCKS SINGLE GAME TICKETS ON SALE
