July 26, 2016 - Northwest League (NWL1)
Salem-Keizer Volcanoes News Release
The Salem-Keizer Volcanoes will hold their annual Cancer Awareness Weekend at Volcanoes Stadium on Friday, August 5 through Sunday, August 7. The purpose of the three-day event is to celebrate and recognize the bravery and strong will of cancer survivors and others affected by the disease.
During this event, the Volcanoes welcome the Spokane Indians to Volcanoes Stadium for a five-game series. The Volcanoes will be coming off the All-Star break and will be looking to take on the second half of the season.
The Volcanoes will be wearing their special Cancer Awareness jerseys, compliments of Dr. Chuck Petrunin. A major sponsor of the weekend is Dr. Bud Peirce also of Hematology & Oncology, who has generously purchased tickets for his patients.
Friday and Saturday will include a fireworks show following the games. After the Sunday contest, a postgame concert will be held featuring JT and the Tourists.
If you have been affected by cancer, whether as a survivor or through someone close to you, the Volcanoes invite you to partake in this special event. Surprise friends and family with a picture on the new high-definition video board, as the Volcanoes will proudly display survivor photos along with 'In Memory Of' photos.
