Victoria Seals News Release
Tucson, AZ - The Victoria Seals announced today that they have signed a pair of players and released another two on their Arizona road trip. Prior to departing on Monday, the team placed both Steven Wright (OF) and Eric Pringle (INF) on irrevocable waivers. In turn, the club inked 2010 spring training invite Phil Ortez (OF) and also agreed to terms with former Chico Outlaw Dale Swinford (INF).
Ortez, a 2006 draft pick of the Detroit Tigers, re-joins the Seals after being one of the final cuts made by the club's coaching staff in the 2010 spring training camp. Swinford comes to Victoria for his second year of professional baseball after posting a .285 batting average as a member of the Outlaws last season. Both players made their debut in last night's loss to Tucson, each picking up a hit in their only plate appearances.
Wright leaves the Seals after going a combined 0-for-10 in his seven games with the club. Pringle was released following a tough start to the year, posting a .136 batting average and a team-high four errors.
Game two of the Seals series against the Toros from Hi Corbett Field is slated for tonight night, a 7:00 p.m. (PT) start time. The contest will be broadcast live via www.victoriaseals.ca. Both single game and season tickets for the 2010 campaign are now on sale, available through the Victoria Seals office. Call (250) 220-7777 for more information, or to book your seat today!
