Chico Outlaws News Release

(Chico, CA. June 1st, 2010). Demetrius Banks pitched six and two-thirds innings on Tuesday night and blanked the Roadrunners 6-0 at Nettleton Stadium.

Banks (2-0) struck out five batters while allowing just six hits and walked two in the game, while his counterpart Brian Holliday (1-1) for the Roadrunners, gave up five runs over his five innings of work. The bullpen of the Outlaws was again solid, as Justin Segal and Matt Perisho pitched a combined two and a third innings of scoreless relief to help Banks get the win.

The Outlaws got a run in the first after Blake Gailen doubled to lead off the game and was sacrificed to second. JJ Sherrill then hit a sac fly to score Gailen, making it 1-0. In the second, Rich Janeway was hit by a pitch to lead things off. Ismael Castro then doubled to drive in Janeway. After a Robby Alcombrack walk, a sac fly to right field by Prieto brought Castro around to score, bringing the Outlaws up to 3-0.

Solo homeruns by Janeway and Alcombrack in the fourth made the score 5-0 and the Outlaws added one more run in the seventh when Prieto walked and eventually scored on a Bobby Hill ground rule double.

Game two of this three game series is Wednesday night at 6:35 pm at the Nett. Right hander Raymar Diaz (0-0) gets the call for St George against Outlaws left hander Mark McLemore (0-0), the former Houston Astro.
