Raise Funds With The Scorpions
June 2, 2010 - Golden Baseball League (GBL)
Yuma Scorpions News Release
Another great performance last night by our team as we took the first game of the Tijuana series, 14-2. Santo DeLeon had four hits to bring his average to .419 - the Scorpions now have six of our eight regulars hitting at least .323. We're off to an 8-3 start and tied with Chico for the most wins in the league. Our own Timmy Rodriguez was just named GBL player of the week, a well deserved honor for a great guy and a great player.
As mentioned in earlier e-mails, I wanted to let you know about our fundraising program. We're really starting to see this take off, and we want to thank organizations like the Red Hats, Elks Club, Generations Church, the 4-H Club and the Yuma Boy Scouts for seeing the possibilities of raising funds by coming to a Scorpions game.
For those not familiar, here's a simple scenario of how your group can raise funds easily: .Your church youth group (for example) has 100 members. Each member has a family of four. That's 400 people. .We consign you 400 tickets to sell at the face value of $6 each. That's $2,400. Of that $2,400, your group keeps half, which is $1,200. .Should all the tickets not sell (and they will), we'll take back the unsold ones. So the financial commitment to your organization is exactly nothing! So, by having your group simply bring the family out to a Scorpions game, you just raised $1,200 for your own cause! No candy to buy (and eat when it doesn't sell), no standing outside stores in the hot sun - you're just coming to a ball game to see the best team in the Golden League!
We have a couple of big events coming up in July that are great for groups, like our July 2 fireworks show (the FIRST July 4 weekend show in Yuma), July 3 Military Appreciation Night and our July 10 Faith Night Christian Concert.
Also want to thank Radio Manantial, 91.9 in Yuma, for signing on as our Official Spanish-Language radio sponsor for the two Faith Night concerts. Radio Manantial is a faith-based broadcaster and a perfect partner for the audience we're trying to reach with the Christian Concert series. Here's their link:

Finally, I want to thank the loyal Scorpions supporters who've come out so far this year and made Desert Sun Stadium a fun place to be. While our crowds could be bigger, the loyalty shown by those who have come out is much appreciated. Better days are ahead in that area, but for now enjoy our first-place Scorpions and continue to tell your friends about us!
