August 12, 2014 - New York-Penn League (NYPL)
Hudson Valley Renegades News Release

(Wappingers Falls, NY 8/11/14)- The Hudson Valley Renegades were stifled for the second straight night by the Tri-City ValleyCats, falling 2-0 in their third meeting of the season. The loss dropped Hudson Valley's record to 39-18 and 22-6 at home. The two teams have concluded the first three games of a six game stretch, and move on to Tri-City for the next three. The Renegades still maintain the best record in the New York-Penn League, and the best home winning percentage of all fourteen teams.

Hudson Valley starter Oscar Armenta was brilliant in his six innings on the bump, following in the footsteps of Nolan Gannon the night before. Hudson Valley continues along the path of quality pitching, in a game that remained scoreless until the top of the eighth. Armenta did not allow a single run and fanned six ValleyCat batters on the evening. The lefty took a no decision in his ninth start of the season, and keeps his record at 4-1.

Tri-City finally broke through in the top of the eighth inning, as third baseman Nick Tanielu laced a double into the gap to score Terrell Joyce and Jamie Ritchie. Braxton Lee gunned down Tanielu at the plate to end the threat, but Tri-City had taken the lead for good.

Hudson Valley had runners in scoring position seven times throughout the night, but solid Tri-City pitching held them scoreless for just the third time this season.

Hunter Lockwood and Daniel Miles both ripped doubles on the night, leading the way for Hudson Valley offensively. The Renegades scattered four hits in the contest, as Braxton Lee, Hunter Lockwood, Daniel Miles and Alec Sole all reached with a base-hit.

Notes: Tonight marks only the second time that Hudson Valley has lost in consecutive home games. Their pitching staff still sits atop the league in lowest ERA (2.97) and most innings thrown (506). Their bullpens 18 saves also serve as the highest total in the NYPL.

The Renegades hit the road for three games against the Tri-City ValleyCats starting tomorrow, before returning for 'Be Your Own Fan Friday' at The Dutch. Fans get to watch their ideas come to life. They'll have the opportunity to choose everything form the music, to in-between inning contests. Post-game fireworks presented by ServPro. First pitch is at 7:05 PM. Great seats are still available!
