After 4-2 Road Trip, Jammers Return to Diethrick Park

JAMESTOWN, NY - Winning on the road can be tough to do. But, after being faced with a daunting six game road trip with stops in both Connecticut and Aberdeen, the Jamestown Jammers managed to go 4-2. They return home to Diethrick Park with an overall record of 25-31, and a 5-5 record in their last 10 games. They currently find themselves 5.5 games back of the Connecticut Tigers in the New York-Penn League Wild Card race.

The opponent for the next three games will be the Auburn Doubledays. The Doubledays currently sit at 26-30, and are 6.5 games behind the State College Spikes in the Pinckney division. They are also 4.5 games behind the Tigers in the Wild Card standings. Auburn is 5-5 in their last 10 games.

Drew Van Orden: Right-handed pitcher from Manhattan Beach, California. 5th round pick in 2014 out of Duke University. Has made seven appearances for the Doubledays in 2014 (six starts). In 27 1/3 innings, Van Orden has given up 34 hits, 18 runs (17 earned), has walked eight, struck out 23, has a 1-3 record, and an ERA of 5.60.

Tyler Eppler: Right-handed pitcher from Navasota, Texas. 6th round pick in 2014 out of Sam Houston State. Has made 11 starts for the Jammers in 2014. In 50 2/3 innings, Eppler has given up 45 hits, 22 runs (17 earned), has walked 10, struck out 35, has an 0-2 record, and an ERA of 3.02.

Players to Watch (Jamestown)

Carl Anderson (Outfielder): Recently selected to represent the South team at the 2014 New York-Penn League All-Star Game. Currently leads the Jammers in hits, with 52, stolen bases (14), has seven doubles, three triples, and 12 runs driven in.

Kevin Ross (Infielder): Also selected to play in the 2014 NYPL All-Star Game. In 41 games this season, Ross is hitting .271, has 42 total hits, 11 doubles, one home run, and has 24 RBIs.

Sam Street (Relief Pitcher): The third Jammer selected to play in the 2014 NYPL All-Star Game. Has been a consistent force out of the bullpen all season long. In 11 appearances, Street has thrown 19 innings, has given up only 11 hits, has struck out 14, and has a stellar ERA of 1.42.

Players to Watch (Auburn)

Jose Marmolejos (Infielder): One of the two Doubledays selected to participate in the 2014 All-Star Game. Is hitting .267 this season in 49 games, with 12 doubles, three triples, one home run, and 24 RBIs.

Mario Sanchez (Relief Pitcher): The other Auburn player selected to play in the All-Star Game. Has a 5-0 record out of the bullpen in 2014. In 28 1/3 innings, Sanchez has given up only 22 hits, 12 runs (8 earned), has struck out 22, and has an ERA of 2.54.
