Lowell Spinners News Release

LOWELL, MASS. - The Lowell Spinners, Class-A Affiliate of the World Series Champion Boston Red Sox, announced Tuesday evening that third baseman Jordan Betts has been added as a reserve to the New York-Penn League All-Star game, hosted by the Brooklyn Cyclones August 19.

Betts will join teammates Danny Mars, a starter, Carlos Pinales and Mauricio Dubon as All-Stars on the "North" squad.

An 18th round selection by the Red Sox in the 2014 First-Year Player Draft, Betts hit a home run in his professional debut with the Spinners and has been impressive all-season long, ranking fourth in the league in home runs (8) and slugging (.500), while ranking 10th in OPS (.828).

Betts leads the Spinners in home runs and has particularly mashed left-handed pitching, batting .356 (16-for-45) with four of his eight home runs against southpaws. Overall, Betts is batting .275 with 12 doubles, two triples, the eight home runs and 30 RBI, while making just five errors at third base.

Betts and the previously named trio of All-Stars will head to Brooklyn following the conclusion of the Spinners six-game road trip that starts in Brooklyn tonight and ends in Hudson Valley August 17.

The team returns to action at LeLacheur Park Wednesday, August 20, when they welcome the Wild Card leading Connecticut Tigers to LeLacheur for a two-game set. Tickets are available now at www.LowellSpinners.com.
