ROME, GA - Through five plate appearances, Armond Upshaw was able to drive home five RBI in the Suns 14-7 victory over the Rome Braves at State Mutual Stadium Friday night.

Upshaw's five RBI is the most for a Hagerstown (32-40, 2-0) player since Nick Banks hit five RBI June 16, 2018.

The Suns got things going early, scoring in each of the first four innings. Cody Wilson started things off scoring on a wild pitch from Odalvi Javier (L, 2-4).

In the second, Hagerstown used put up a three spot after another Javier wild pitch to score Israel Pineda. After that, Upshaw smoked a double off the wall to bring home Jackson Cluff and Kyle Marinconz to put the Suns in front 4-0.

The next inning, Jacob Rhinesmith homered to make him the first Suns player to homer in back-to-back games since Alex Dunlap did against the BlueClaws July 27-28, 2018. Marinconz added another homer in the fourth to give Hagerstown a 6-0 lead.

The Suns biggest inning of the game came in the seventh. After Rhinesmith and Gilbert Larawalked to lead-off the frame, Justin Connell stroked a single to score Rhinesmith. Next, Cluff was hit by a pitch to load the bases for Nic Perkins, who doubled home a pair. Upshaw hit a two out single to score Cluff and Perkins and put Hagerstown in front 12-3.

Joan Adon (W, 6-2) got the start for Hagerstown and worked four hitless innings before Rome added to the scoreboard and reached base. A single from Ricardo Rodriguez broke an 11 inning stretch where Hagerstown had not allowed a hit.

The Suns chose Angel Guillen and Jacob Howell from the pen. Guillen worked 2.2 innings before walking a few batters and allowing three runs. After that, Howell scooped up the mess and finished the game allowing one earned run through 1.1 innings.

Hagerstown plays game three of four tomorrow against the Rome Braves at State Mutual Stadium. The Suns throw righty Francys Peguero (2-5, 2.54 ERA) and Rome counters with southpaw Dilmer Mejia (3-1, 1.42 ERA).

The Suns return to action for a seven-game road trip against the Rome Braves and the Hickory Crawdads June 20-26. The Suns then return to Municipal Stadium for a seven game homestand against the Delmarva Shorebirds and Greensboro Grasshoppers that includes plenty of promotions, including Thirsty Thursday, Ghostbusters/80's Night, Sunday Funday, and Salute to America.
