WINSTON-SALEM, NC (APRIL 28, 2011) - Winston-Salem put the tying run at second base in the ninth inning, but Kyle Colligan's two-out line drive fell into the glove of Frederick closer Sean Gleason, giving the Keys a 5-4 win. Frederick took the finale on Thursday night at BB&T Ballpark, and won three of the four games in the series.

For the first time since the opening game of the home stand, Winston-Salem (8-12) got on the board before its opponent. Four out of the first five batters reached on hits in the first inning. Daniel Wagner opened the game with a single and then advanced to second on Jose Martinez's single. Jared Mitchell followed by grounding into a double play that moved Wagner to third. Ian Gac then beat out a grounder hit to shortstop Garabez Rosa for an infield single that also scored Wagner. Andy Wilkins then doubled to plate Gac, and was picked off at second base to end the inning.

The 2-0 lead held up until the fourth inning, when the Keys (9-10) leveled the score. Tyler Townsend led off the frame with a triple to left-center field. Jacob Julius then popped out into right field and Buck Britton blasted a home run to right, tying the game at two.

In the fifth, the Keys pulled ahead without the benefit of a ball leaving the infield. L.J. Hoes walked to begin the inning, and was retired when Townsend reached on a fielder's choice ground ball. Julius then hit a grounder to first base that Wilkins fielded and threw wide of second, eluding Daniel Wagner and allowing Townsend to advance to third. Britton hit next, and grounded into a fielder's choice to plate the go-ahead run.

Brian Ward began the sixth inning with a bunt single and moved to third on Rosa's double. Kyle Hudson's ground out to second to score Ward, and then Trent Mummey reached on a fielder's choice that saw Rosa thrown out at home. Mummey stole second, and crossed home on Hoes' single to make the lead 5-2.

The Dash valiantly fought back in the bottom of the ninth. Gac scorched a one-out double to right field, and was driven in when Jake Oester singled with two outs. With the tying run coming up to bat, Nick Ciolli pinch hit for Jason Bour. Oester took second base on defensive indifference, and then scored on Ciolli's single to put the tying run aboard with two outs. Austin Yount walked, and with runners at first and second, Colligan hit a line drive up the middle that was snared by the pitcher Gleason for the third out. Frederick won 5-4, completing Winston's 11th one-run game. The Dash fell to 4-7 in those ballgames, and 8-12 overall.

Oliver Drake (1-0) picked up the win in relief for Frederick after throwing 4.2 innings and allowing the two ninth inning runs. Cameron Bayne (2-2) got the loss after allowing five runs, four earned, in six innings. Sean Gleason earned his fourth save in as many chances, and second straight against the Dash.

Winston-Salem heads on the road for six games starting Friday night at Wilmington at 7:05. LHP Joe Serafin (0-0, 3.46 ERA) toes the rubber for the Dash against RHP Jake Odorizzi. Fans can catch all the action starting at 6:45 on www.wsdash.com.
