Washington Wild Things News Release

Washington, Pa. -- Two players from the Washington Wild Things have been selected to represent the East Division at the 2015 Frontier League All Star Game in Schaumburg, Illinois July 15th.

Shortstop Austin Wobrock, who has proven to be a "highlight reel" defender, has become a central piece to the Wild Things' defense, which is rated third in the Frontier League. Wobrock has accumulated eight runs scored on 29 hits with 10 walks this season. The California native has a .266 batting average with five RBI. Over the past seven days Wobrock has hit .316.

Wobrock played infield for the University of Hawaii prior to being signed by Washington late during the 2014 season.

Joining Wobrock in Schaumburg will be Cranberry Township native Kyle Helisek. The Seneca Valley High School graduate, who was drafted in the 30th round of the MLB June Amateur draft by the St. Louis Cardinals, has a 1.95 ERA. He spent three years in the Cardinals' system. The southpaw has allowed only eight runs while striking out 31 in 37 innings pitched this season for Washington.

The Wild Things begin a six game road trip Tuesday when they visit Windy City and Rockford as they head into the All-Star Break July 13-16. The games will be broadcast on WJPA 95.3 FM and on msasports.net. The team will begin the second half of the season at home July 17 when they face the Normal Cornbelters for a three-game set.
