
Rascals Lose Two of Three to Florence

Florence, KY - The Rascals (23-21) lost their series finale with the Florence Freedom (20-25) 5-1 on Sunday, July 5 at UC Health Stadium.
LHP Lucas Laster (L, 0-1) made his fourth start of the season and took the loss. He allowed a career high five runs, four earned, and nine hits in 3.2 innings. He walked one and struck out three batters.
Florence starter Chuck Weaver (W, 3-1) tossed 7.0 innings and surrendered just one run on five hits. He walked a season-high five men and struck out three Rascals.
The Freedom took a 1-0 lead in the second inning. With two outs, Mason Salazar and Travis Weaver each singled. Former Rascal Steve Carillo then singled to centerfield and drove home Salazr.
1B Zach Kometani tied the game with a solo homerun in the top of the fourth frame. The shot was Kometani's second of the season; he hit his first on Thursday at Normal.
Florence scored four more runs in bottom of the inning. Salazar and Weaver hit one out singles, and Carillo then hit his second RBI single of the game. Justin Harris singled to load the bases, and Kyle Carter followed with a two-run single down the left field line. Collins Cuthrell then walked and stole second base, and a throwing error by C Josh Ludy allowed Harris to score from third base.
Four Rascals relievers combined to pitch a perfect 4.1 innings. RHP Zac Treece tossed 1.1 inning of relief. RHP Chandler Jagodzinski, RHP Derek Cape, and RHP Will Schierholz each pitched 1.0 perfect frame.
The Rascals begin a three-game series against the Lake Erie Crushers on Tuesday, July 7 at T.R. Hughes Ballpark at 6:35 p.m. CDT.
