Wisconsin Rapids Rafters News Release
Wisconsin Rapids, Wis. - When Historic Witter Field plays host to the Marshfield Clinic 2015 Northwoods League All-Star Game on July 21, a pair of Rafters, infielder Brock Carpenter (Seattle) and left-handed pitcher Jack Riley (UConn), will be on hand to represent Wisconsin Rapids on the South Division team.
"Brock has really impressed here this summer and this all-star selection shows it," said Rafters Field Manager Craig Noto. "He's a plus defender who has been a big contributor offensively with some clutch hits for us. Jack has gotten off to a great start this summer. He has come up big almost every time he has taken the baseball and kept us in ball games."
The 25-man rosters were selected by representatives from around the Northwoods League. The Kenosha Kingfish led the way in the South with seven selections, while Duluth paced the North Division with five selections.
Carpenter, who wrapped up his sophomore season at Seattle in the spring, has been one of the hottest hitters since joining the Rafters in mid-June. The Fife, Washington native has 23 hits in his 25 games Wisconsin Rapids, including four doubles and three home runs. He has added 15 runs scored and 14 RBI, while drawing 19 walks compared to 17 strike outs.
Riley, who redshirted as a freshman at Connecticut in 2015, leads all Rafters starters with a 2.21 ERA over 36.2 innings. The lefty is 3-1 on the year and has helped Wisconsin Rapids to a 5-2 record in games he has pitched in. The West Boylston, Massachusetts native had his best start of the year on June 27 in Madison against the Mallards when he went seven scoreless innings and struck out three in a 2-1 Rafter win.
Tickets are still available for the All-Star Game and can be purchased by calling the Rafters office at 715-424-5400 or on raftersbaseball.com.
