
MoonDogs comeback to beat Anchors

Mankato, Minn. - The Alexandria Blue Anchors fell to the Mankato MoonDogs 7-6 Sunday night at Franklin Rogers Park. The Blue Anchors are now 7-5 in the second half and 19-28 on the season.
Mankato was first on the scoreboard when they got a run in the bottom of the second against Graylon Brown. Brinn Bell reached on an error and stole second. He moved to third on a groundout and former Blue Anchors Craig Nennig drove Bell in putting them ahead 1-0.
In the top of the fourth, the Blue Anchors grabbed the lead. Matt Duce and Nehwon Norkeh singled with one out and Dane Hutcheon singled an out later. Anthony Marks doubled in Duce and Norkeh for two runs. Steve Sada collected a base hit bringing in Hutcheon making the score 3-1.
The MoonDogs got one back in the fourth. Nennig hit a single with two outs and Eric Schenck-Joblinske doubled him in cutting the lead down to 3-2.
Against the Anchors bullpen, Kevin Hall tripled to lead off the seventh. He came in to tie the score at three on a ground out from Hunter Mercado-Hood.
Kyle Weston singled with one out in the eighth and he stole second. Another two-out hit from Schenck-Joblinske scored Weston giving the MoonDogs a 4-3 lead.
The Blue Anchors regained their advantage in the top of the ninth. Hutcheon and Marks singled to get the rally started. Sada bunted both runners into scoring position for Drew Fearing. Fearing doubled in both runners turning the tides and putting Alexandria ahead 5-4. Kyle Richardson singled in Fearing moving the score to 6-4.
Mercado-Hood singled to start the Mankato rally in their half of the ninth. Sulliam Rios-Reyes came into the game as a pinch runner. Jack Flansburg singled and then David Metztgar sacrificed both into scoring position. A double from Paul Panaccione scored Rios-Reyes. Bell was intentionally walked to load the bases with hopes of turning a double play. Instead, Weston singled in Flansburg and Panaccione giving the MoonDogs the 7-6 victory.
Brown finished the day with six innings pitched and two runs, one earned, allowed on eight hits. He struck out three hitters. George Faue pitched the seventh and gave up a run on three hits. In the eighth, Mitch Larson gave up a run on two hits. Taking the loss in the ninth was Jake Matthys (1-4) giving up three runs on four hits and a walk in 1/3 of an inning.
Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Anthony Marks (LF) - Marks finished the game going 2-for-4 with a run scored and two RBI while hitting his first double of the season. He continues to raise his on-base percentage and it is now .385 on the season.
