Bullpen woes continue as Anchors fall to Bucks

Waterloo, Iowa - The Alexandria Blue Anchors fell to the Waterloo Bucks 10-5 Monday night at Riverfront Stadium. The loss puts the Anchors at 7-6 and 19-29 on the season.

The Bucks were first to score against starter Zach Muckenhirn in the second. Taylor Lane hit a leadoff triple and came in on Alex Boxwell's single to make the score 1-0.

The Blue Anchors tied the game in the top of the third. Luke Petterson and Kyle Richardson both walked with two outs and moved into scoring position on a passed ball. Drew Fearing hit a single to score Petterson and tie it at one.

Alexandria had a short lead in the top of the fourth when Ricky Sanchez tripled to start the inning and score on Nehwon Norkeh's groundout giving them the 2-1 advantage.

Waterloo grabbed the lead again in the fourth. After a pitching change, Jonah Bride led off with a base hit and went to third on Boxwell's double. A groundout scored Bride to knot the gave at two. Chris Kelly singled in Boxwell for a 3-2 lead. A walk to Taylor Boyd put two on for Zach McKinstry who doubled in both runners and the Bucks lead 5-2 after four innings.

The seventh inning brought one last rally from the Anchors. Petterson walked again to lead off the frame and went to second on Kyle Richardson's single. A sac bunt put both in scoring position and Petterson scored on Josh Merrigan's base hit. Sanchez collected an RBI on a groundout scoring Richardson. Norkeh reached on an error scoring Merrigan and tying the game at five.

Waterloo's half of the seventh didn't go as planned for Ciji Ramos. Boyd singled and went to second when Lane was hit by a pitch. Zack Soria singled to load the bases with just one out. Bride drove in three with a double putting the Bucks up 8-5. After a pitching change, Boxwell went deep giving the final score of 10-5.

Muckenhirn lasted only three innings allowing one run on four hits and a walk with two strikeouts. George Faue allowed four earned runs in 2/3 of an inning. Ramos (2-4) took the loss pitching 2.2 innings surrendering four runs on three hits with a punch out. Mitch Larson finished the seventh allowing a run in 2/3 of an inning. Austin Cornish finished the game off with a scoreless eighth striking out one batter.

Minnesota Baseball Academy Player of the Game - Kyle Richardson (CF) - The product of Notre Dame finished the night 1-for-4 and he scored a run and also collected a walk.
