Kannapolis Cannon Ballers News Release
Kannapolis, NC - Kannapolis Intimidators first baseman/designated Chris Carter and pitcher Fautino De Los Santos were named to the 2007 South Atlantic League Annual All-Star team Monday. In addition, De Los Santos was named the league's Most Outstanding Major League Prospect.
The team was nominated by the coaching staffs of each team.
De Los Santos, now with the Winston-Salem Warthogs of the Carolina League, went 9-4 for Kannapolis with a 2.40 ERA in 21 games and 15 starts. He struck out 121 batters in just 97.2 innings. He allowed 49 hits and held opposing hitters to a miniscule .148 batting average against. Currently with Winston-Salem, De Los Santos is 1-1 with a 4.34 ERA in four starts. He has struck out 22 in 18.2 innings.
Carter, still with the Intimidators, is close to breaking some Kannapolis team records in the final week of the season. In 124 games, Carter is batting .287 with 24 home runs, 54 extra-base hits, and 89 RBIs. He is currently tied for second in the league in home runs and his fourth in RBIs. He has already tied the Intimidators record for home runs in a season and is one RBI shy of tying the all-time Kannapolis mark.
Both players were also selected to participate in the All-Star Game back in June.
