Augusta, GA - The Augusta GreenJackets (86-48) have been a thorn in the Greenville Drive's side all season long. And that trend continued Monday night as the ‘Jackets delivered a 7-5 loss to the Drive (56-77).

The Drive held onto a 5-1 lead through five innings but then the GreenJackets offense took over, scoring three runs in sixth and seventh innings each for the come-from-behind win.

Trailing 1-0, the Drive used three hits and were aided by two Augusta errors to plate three runs and take a two run advantage. Mike Jones singled home Argenis Diaz and a two-out fielding error on Matt Sheely's at bat allowed Paul Smyth to score. Chih-Hsien Chiang made sure the error was even more costly, delivering a run-scoring single off Spartanburg native Kevin Pucetas.

Greenville mounted a four run lead with two more runs in the top of the fifth off reliever Juan Trinidad. The Drive took advantage of another Augusta fielding mishap, their third of the game, as Chiang doubled home Jones and Sheely.

Although he only lasted 4.1 innings and experienced control issues at times, Daniel Bard put together one of his more promising starts in more than a month. The right-handed first rounder allowed just one run, despite allowing five hits and issuing six walks.

Unfortunately the Drive bullpen faltered late, allowing six runs over the sixth and seventh innings. Chris Jones got off to a shaky start in the bottom of the sixth, as Mark Weston belted a leadoff home run. Bobby Felmy added a two-out, two-run double knocking Jones from the game.

Things did not fair much better for Chris Province (3-2) as the ‘Jackets tagged the reliever for the eventual game-winning runs an inning later. A fielding error by Chiang allowed Ryan Rohlinger to score and tie the game. Emmanuel Burriss then knocked in Augusta's final two runs with a single.

The Drive and GreenJackets conclude their two-game showdown in Augusta tomorrow evening with first pitch set for 7:05 PM. Right-hander Joseph Guerra will toe the rubber for Greenville in their final road game of the year.

The Drive return home to West End Field on Thursday, August 30th to closeout the 2007 season with a pair of games versus the GreenJackets and a three-game series against the Asheville Tourists.
