
Turley Tames Cats on Sunday Afternoon

The SeaWolves took down the New Britain Rock Cats 7-1 on Sunday afternoon at New Britain Stadium, finishing the four-game series with a split.
Erie jumped ahead in the second against Rock Cats starter Dan Turpen. Steven Moya led off with a walk and was doubled over to third by Dean Green. Moya scored on a Corey Jones groundout for a 1-0 lead.
In the sixth, Erie added to the lead against reliever Jim Fuller. With one out, Moya and Green connected on back-to-back singles. Jones singled to center, scoring Moya for a 2-0 lead. With two outs, Dixon Machado walked to load the bases and Craig Albernaz followed drawing a bases loaded walk, scoring Green for a 3-0 lead.
The SeaWolves added a run in the seventh against reliever Cole Johnson. Jason Krizan led off with a double off the wall in right and came home on a Devon Travis opposite-field double for a 4-0 edge.
The 'Wolves added to the lead once again in the ninth inning. Travis led off with a walk and Moya followed with a two-run home run to right-center for a 6-0 lead. The homer for Moya was his league-leading 28th and he picked up RBIs 87 and 88. With one out, Jones drilled a solo home run to right making it 7-0.
The Cats got one in the bottom of the ninth against reliever Jose Valdez on an Eddie Rosario RBI single. Valdez retired the final two, closing out the game and a 7-1 win.
Erie starter Josh Turley (3-1) was lights out in his fourth Erie start, earning his third win. He worked seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits with two walks and five strikeouts.
