
Norris Rolls to Third Win

MANCHESTER, NH---Daniel Norris matched his career-best, working 6.2 innings with eight strikeouts, as the Fisher Cats won the rubber game of a five-game series with a 7-1 win over Reading on Sunday afternoon at Northeast Delta Dental Stadium.
Norris (WP: 3-1) allowed five hits and did not walk a batter in earning the win. The 21-year old southpaw has allowed just two earned runs in 15.2 IP in his last three starts. Mickey Storey worked 2.1 innings of scoreless relief to finish up for New Hampshire.
The Fisher Cats (55-60) opened the scoring with a run in the bottom of the second inning. K. C. Hobson walked and Jack Murphy singled. After a fielders choice, Andy Fermin's sacrifice fly plated Hobson to make it 1-0.
New Hampshire scored six times in the bottom of the third inning, matching the biggest inning of the season. Jon Berti (3-for-4) reached on a hit-by-pitch, stole second, and scored on a fielders choice by Derrick Chung. Cory Aldridge reached on a fielders choice. Andy Burns doubled home a run and was followed by Hobson, who hit a two-run double to make it 5-0. Jack Murphy walked and Michael Crouse singled. Fermin knocked in his second run of the game with a fielders choice and Jorge Flores delivered a run-scoring single.
Reading (47-67) scored its run on a solo home run by Zach Collier in the top of the fifth inning. Ryan O'Sullivan (LP: 5-7) took the loss, but did finish his outing by retiring the last nine Fisher Cats he faced.
The Fisher Cats open a six-game roadtrip on Tuesday night in Erie. RHP Casey Lawrence (8-5, 2.72) starts in the opener for New Hampshire against RHP Warwick Saupold (7-9, 5.13) for the SeaWolves. Game time is 7:05 p.m. and coverage with Tom Gauthier begins at 6:45 p.m. on WGIR 610 AM and www.nhfishercats.
The next home game for New Hampshire will be Tuesday, August 12 when the Richmond Flying Squirrels (SF Giants Double-A) visit Northeast Delta Dental Stadium. The homestand opens with free Fungo Bobbleheads to the first 1,000 fans courtesy of Northeast Delta Dental. There will also be two Atlas Fireworks Shows and two hat giveaways during the stand with Richmond and Akron.
