
Tulsa Edges RiverKings After 12-Round Shootout

TULSA, OK --- The Tulsa Oilers (7-12-1) rallied from a 4-2 deficit to tie the game and send it to overtime, then beat the Mississippi RiverKings (8-10-1) 5-4 after a 12-round shootout on Friday, December 3rd in Tulsa, Oklahoma.
Both teams traded goals in the first period, with Jack Combs scoring first for the Oilers at 3:42 followed by Milan Maslonka tying the game for Mississippi at 4:17.
Mississippi took a 3-2 lead after two periods on goals from Matt Summers and Louis Dumont after Chad Costello opened the scoring for Tulsa.
The RiverKings took a 4-2 lead in the third period on a goal from Patrik Levesque at 7:21, but Tulsa would tie it on a goal 27 seconds later by Derek Hulak and a power play goal with 3:19 remaining scored by Costello, his second of the game.
The shootout was decided in the 12th round on a goal from Michel Beausoleil, followed by Tulsa goalie Ian Keserich stopping the final attempt by Louis Dumont to preserve the final result.
Mississippi failed to score on the power play in three tries, while Tulsa was 1-for-4 with the man advantage. Mississippi outshot the Oilers 38-37. RiverKings goalie Larry Sterling (4-3-1) made 33 saves, while Tulsa goalie Keserich (5-8-0) stopped 34 Mississippi shots.
The RiverKings host the Wichita Thunder tomorrow night at the DeSoto Civic Center in Southaven, starting at 7:05 PM. St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital is the non-profit MVP for the night, with a jersey auction to benefit St. Jude's taking place after the game, presented by Emergency Mobile Healthcare.
