Brahmas Give up Four in Loss Against Mavs
December 3, 2010 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Fort Worth Brahmas News Release
NORTH RICHLAND HILLS, Texas (December 3)- Twenty minutes of Brahmas hockey was played at NYTEX Friday night; unfortunately a complete game consists of 60 as Texas fell to the Mavs 4-1.
Only ten shots total were registered in the first period between the teams (Texas-4, Missouri-6), but all that mattered was Matt Pierce's deflection at the 11:40 marker to put Texas up 1-0. The goal, assisted by Jason Krischuk and Jason Deitsch, was Pierce's third of the season.
Wayne Savage let in a pair of goals in the second, the first from Nick Sirota with the Mavs ninth shot on goal. Bill Vandermeer, nestled securely in Savage's crease, picked up his first of the season and the Missouri lead 15 minutes in the middle frame. Texas forward Chad Woollard had a prime opportunity to beat goaltender Rob Nolan with a one-on-one breakaway attempt midway in the period, but he narrowly missed clanking the puck off the post.
A powerplay goal and breakaway goal in the third told the tale for the streaking Mavericks as they wrapped up the 4-1 victory. The Brahmas were 0-for-2 on the powerplay and were outshot 17-25.
Texas takes on the Colorado Eagles Saturday night for a 7:30 pm faceoff at NYTEX. All fans in attendance are asked to participate in the Brahmas annual "Teddy Bear Toss" in tomorrow's game; bring gently used or new stuffed animals to the game and toss onto the ice following Texas' first goal. All toys will be donated to the Community Enrichment Center of North Richland Hills. For ticket information please contact the Brahmas Box Office at (817) 336-4423 or visit www.brahmas.com .
