Lincoln Saltdogs News Release

LINCOLN, NE - The Lincoln Saltdogs easily sailed past the Sioux City Explorers Saturday night, winning 6-1 at Haymarket Park. Lincoln has now won two of the first three in the four-game weekend series.

Saltdogs starter Ryan Trytten (2-2) dominated the X's hitters all night long, tossing his first complete game of the season to earn his second win. Trytten allowed just one run while scattering eight hits, walking none and striking out seven. The right-hander threw 127 pitchers, and struck out the side in the ninth to complete the victory.

Offensively, Lincoln got on the board in the second inning by stringing three singles together, including an RBI single from Shawn McGill. The Saltdogs then added two runs in the third inning on one of the stranger plays of the year so far. With the bases loaded and two men out, Shea McFeely hit a slow roller up the middle. Shortstop Sam Walker fielded the ball, but runner Eduardo Rios beat him to the bag at second, allowing two runs to score on the play and giving McFeely a two-run fielder's choice. The Dogs tacked on two more unearned runs in the fourth inning, and added an insurance run in the ninth when Rios hit an RBI single. Sioux City's only run came in the fifth inning when they put together three singles, the run scoring on a hit by Jason Tuttle.

For the game, Anthony Contreras, Dustin Yount and Mario Delgado all had two hits apiece for Lincoln, and Contreras also drove in a run and stole his third and fourth bases of the year. Overall, Lincoln stole three bases in four attempts.

The Saltdogs and Explorers play the finale of their four-game series late Sunday afternoon at Lewis and Clark Park in Sioux City. Josh Kauten is scheduled to make the start for Lincoln, while Nick Singleton is expected to take the mound for the X's.

The Saltdogs' next homestand of the season begins on June 17. For team and ticket information, go to www.saltdogs.com.
