Sioux City Explorers News Release
SIOUX CITY, IA -- Ryan Trytten allows just 1 run on 8 hits and Sioux City fell to Lincoln 6-1 at Lewis & Clark Park on Saturday night.
The Saltdogs scored 1 in the 2nd, 2 in the 3rd, and 2 in the 4th off of X's starter Dusty Bergman to establish a 5-0 lead. There was controversy, however. In the top of the 3rd inning, Lincoln loads the bases with 2 outs and Shea McFeely hits a ground ball to short. Sam Walker fields it cleanly and goes to 2nd base, racing Eduardo Rios to the bag. It appeared that Walker arrived there first but the umpire ruled Rios safe and 2 runs scored on a fielders choice. Lincoln never looked back.
The X's lone run was on a RBI single by Jason Tuttle in the bottom of the 5th. Alex Llanos went 2 for 4, with the first triple of the season for the X's. Chad Gabriel went 2 for 4.
Bergman went 7 innings, his longest outing of the season, allowed 5 runs, 4 earned on 9 hits; he walked 1 and struck out 3 but suffered his 8th defeat in 8 starts. Trytten improved to 2-2, with Lincoln's 2nd complete game of the series and of the year.
The X's will try to earn a split Sunday night and will send NIck Singleton (2-2, 2.79) to the mound while the Dogs will answer with Josh Kauten (1-2, 5.00). Game time is 5:05, with tickets available by calling 277-WINS.
