The Shreveport Sports demolished the El Paso Diablos 19-11 on Saturday night from Cohen Stadium.

El Paso pieced together a run in the bottom of the first inning. Walter Olmstead picked up an RBI on a ground out, which scored Kory Drew from third base for the 1-0 lead.

Shreveport tied it up in the top of the third inning. Adam Hale rocketed a double off the left-field wall plating Adam Miller, which knotted up the score at 1-1.

The Diablos had a big third inning, scoring five runs. El Paso had RBI singles from Alex Derhak, Bryon Smith, Matt Kent and Kory Drew, as the Diablos took a 6-1 lead

The Sports scored a run in the top of the fourth inning. With the bases loaded, Bobby Bratton grounded into a double play which plated Chad Gambill, cutting the lead to 6-2.

El Paso took a commanding lead after the bottom of the fifth. J.D Reininger and Jorge Alvarez each scored from third base on wild pitches by Sports starter Russell Savickas, for the 8-3 advantage.

Shreveport stayed in the contest with a two-run sixth inning. Bobby Bratton hammered a two-run homer off of David Whigham, with two outs cutting the deficit to 8-5.

The Sports had a monstrous seventh inning. Shreveport pounded out eight runs off of eight base hits. The Diablos faced 11 Sports batters before even retiring one. Shreveport took a 13-8 lead.

The Sports extended their advantage to a 19-8 after the eighth inning. Terrance McClain had a three-run homer in the inning off of Donovan Hendricks.

El Paso showed some life in the bottom of the ninth, scoring three runs. J.D Reininger had a two-run home run in the frame.

Russell Savickas (2-2) is the victor. He threw six innings allowing six earned runs off of 11 hits with two walks and two strikeouts.

David Whigham threw six innings allowing four earned runs off of six hits with no walks and eight strikeouts.

B.J Litchfield (0-2) picks up the loss, he allowed four runs off of two hits with two walks and no strikeouts.

J.D Reininger struck out the side in the ninth inning for El Paso. That was the second appearance of the left fielder's professional career.

The Diablos will close out their three game series with the Shreveport Sports on Sunday afternoon at 4:05 PM at Cohen Stadium. Josh Neitz will throw for the Diablos against Matt Clayman in the contest. The game will be broadcast live at www.diablos.com with Jon Barr on the call.
