Triple-A All-Star Luncheon To Feature Tommy Lasorda
May 21, 2007 - Pacific Coast League (PCL1)
Albuquerque Isotopes News Release
National Baseball Hall of Fame Manager Tommy Lasorda will return to Albuquerque on July 11 to become the first person inducted into the Albuquerque Baseball Hall of Fame in a special ceremony held at the Triple-A All-Star Luncheon at 11:00 AM at Sandia Resort, part of the myriad festivities surrounding the Triple-A All-Star Game.
Lasorda, who managed the 1972 Albuquerque Dukes to a 92-52 record and a Pacific Coast League Championship in their first season as a Triple-A franchise before embarking on a 21-year career at the helm of the Los Angeles Dodgers, will be the keynote speaker at the Luncheon, which is open to the public. With the Dodgers, the Hall of Fame Manager led Los Angeles to four National League pennants and two World Series titles. After retiring from the Dodgers, Lasorda led the United States Baseball team to a Gold Medal at the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia.
The baseball legend will be present to accept the honor of being the inaugural inductee to the Albuquerque Baseball Hall of Fame, an institution created by the Isotopes to honor the great legacy and heritage of the National Pastime in the Duke City. A special Hall of Fame display will be erected in McKernan Hall to honors those inducted in perpetuity.
Charged with the honor of introducing Lasorda into this prestigious body will be former Major Leaguer Tom Paciorek, who played for Lasorda on the Dukes in 1972. That season, Paciorek posted one of the best years in Albuquerque Dukes history, leading the PCL with 125 runs and 27 home runs, while racking up 107 RBI en route to garnering National Minor League Player of the Year honors. Paciorek enjoyed an 18-year Major League career and then became one of the most popular baseball broadcasters in the country.
Tickets for the All-Star Luncheon are available exclusively at Isotopes Park and are $50 per person or $450 for a table of 10 to be a part of this once-in-a-lifetime event.
The Luncheon is merely a part of what will be a great week of Triple-A All-Star Fiesta Fun in Albuquerque. Starting at $65, fans can buy an all-inclusive All-Star Package that features both days of the Fan Fest (where former Dukes and Dodgers Steve Garvey, Ron Cey, Bill Russell, among many others will be on hand signing autographs), the PNM Power Derby on July 9 and Triple-A All-Star Game on July 11 at Isotopes Park. Tickets can be purchased at the Isotopes Park Box Office and all Ticketmaster outlets. For more information, visit www.albuquerquebaseball.com or call 505-924-2255.
