Trio of Earthquakes Undergo Successful Surgeries

SAN JOSE, Calif. - The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that midfielder Andre Luiz (Wednesday), defender Ike Opara (yesterday) and defender Steven Beitashour (yesterday) all underwent successful surgeries.

Andre Luiz had a procedure to repair his medial collateral ligament (MCL) and had a reconstruction of his posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) on his left knee. Andre Luiz is out for the season and played the last of his nine matches this season on June 5 against FC Dallas.

Opara and Beitashour had their surgeries performed by Dr. Michael Oberlander at Sequoia Surgical Pavilion in Walnut Creek. Opara had surgery on his fractured left foot, which he suffered on July 31 against Seattle Sounders FC. Beitashour had surgery to repair his fractured right hand that he sustained at training this past Monday.
