
Trio of defensemen head to Toronto

COLUMBIA, S.C. (March 3, 2008)-Defensemen Reid Cashman, Todd Perry and Patrick Wellar have all been recalled to the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, Inferno head coach and director of hockey operations Troy Mann announced today.
Cashman, 24, has 20 points (three goals, 17 assists) and 29 penalty minutes in 35 games with the Inferno this season, his first in the ECHL. The 6-foot-2, 205-pound native of Red Wing, Minn., also has three assists and four penalty minutes in 13 career American Hockey League games from 2006-07 through 2007-08, all with the Toronto Marlies.
Prior to turning pro, Cashman had 148 points (23 goals, 125 assists) and 246 penalty minutes in 151 career games with Quinnipiac University from 2003-04 through 2006-07.
Perry, 21, has 21 points (five goals, 16 assists) and 63 penalty minutes in 44 games with the Inferno this season. The 6-foot-3, 215-pound native of Ingleside, Ontario, has four penalty minutes in six games with the Marlies this season.
Prior to turning pro, Perry had 51 points (five goals, 46 assists) and 340 penalty minutes in 163 career Ontario Hockey League games from 2004-05 through 2006-07 with the Barrie Colts and London Knights. Perry also had 11 points (four goals, seven assists) and 78 penalty minutes in 36 career OHL playoff games.
Wellar, 24, has 28 points (eight goals, 20 assists) and 77 penalty minutes in 52 games with the Inferno this season. In four games with the Marlies this season, Wellar has two penalty minutes.
The 6-foot-3, 210-pound native of Carrot River, Saskatchewan, has also played in 32 career regular season AHL games with the Worcester Ice Hawks, Peoria Rivermen and Toronto Marlies from 2004-05 through 2007-08. During that time, Wellar has two assists and 13 penalty minutes. Wellar was originally drafted 77th overall by the Washington Capitals in the third round of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.
The Inferno return to the Carolina Coliseum on Thursday, March 6 to host the Gwinnett Gladiators at 7:05 p.m.
