Trey Supak Named Southern League Pitcher of the Week

BILOXI, MS - Biloxi Shuckers RHP Trey Supak has been named the Southern League Pitcher of the Week for the week of April 15 to 21. Supak takes home the honor after two scoreless starts during the week against the Pensacola Blue Wahoos and Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp.

In his first start on Tuesday night, Supak went toe-to-toe with Blue Wahoos RHP Brusdar Graterol, throwing six scoreless frames and striking out four. They 22-year-old righty was perfect through 3.1 innings when he allowed his lone hit of the night, a single to right, with one out in the fourth. Supak worked around a pair of base runners in the fifth that reached on an error and catchers' interference, inducing a double play ball to end the threat. Though he didn't factor into the decision, the Shuckers would go on to win 3-2 in ten innings.

Supak kept his scoreless streak alive on Sunday against Jacksonville, spinning seven shutout frames against the Jumbo Shrimp. The Brewers #11 prospect ran into trouble in the first after a pair of one-out hits and a walk loaded the bases, but a 6-4-3 double play ended any scoring chance for Jacksonville. The La Grange, TX native allowed just two more base runners during his start, retiring 13 of the final 14 batters that he faced including the last seven in a row.

All told, Supak pitched 13.0 scoreless innings during the week, allowing just five hits and one walk while striking out nine. He was the only Southern League pitcher that made two starts in the week that didn't allow an earned run and lead the league in innings pitched. This is the second time Supak has garnered Southern League Pitcher of the Week honors after earning the honor in 2018 for the week of July 23 to 29.

Biloxi continues their series against the Jumbo Shrimp on Monday night at 6:35 pm at MGM Park.
