
Trenton Falls to Harrisburg

(Harrisburg, PA)- Harrisburg Pinch-hitter Sean Rooney drew a bases-loaded walk in the 10th inning to bring home the winning run in Harrisburg's 3-2 win over Trenton on Friday night from Metro Bank Park. The loss snapped Trenton's three-game winning streak.
With the scored tied 2-2 in the bottom of the tenth inning, Harrisburg Third baseman Joel Guzman walked against Trenton Reliever Josh Schmidt (7-2). With two outs, Pinch-hitter Bill Rhinehart doubled to advanced Guzman to third base. Schmidt elected to intentionally walk Designated hitter Marvin Lowrance to load the bases. Pinch-hitter Sean Rooney then walked on five pitches to bring home the winning run for the Senators. Harrisburg Reliever Carlos Martinez (5-4) earned the win in relief for the Senators. He pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings.
Harrisburg (42-55) jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first inning. Center fielder Edgardo Baez led off the frame with a single against Trenton Starting Pitcher Wilkin De La Rosa. Second baseman Ofilio Castro followed with a single to put runners at first and second base. Guzman followed with a two-run double to score both Baez and Castro and give the Senators a 2-0 lead. Trenton closed the gap to 2-1 in the fifth inning. With the bases loaded and one out, Third baseman Marcos Vechionacci connected on a sacrifice fly RBI to make it 2-1. Trenton tied the game at 2-2 in the ninth inning. Center fielder Austin Krum doubled to start the ninth inning off of Harrisburg Reliever Atahualpa Severino. Second baseman Reegie Corona laid down a sacrifice bunt to advance Krum to third base. Shortstop Eduardo Nunez brought home the tying run on an RBI single off of Harrisburg Reliever Carlos Martinez.
Harrisburg Starting Pitcher Erik Arnesen tossed seven innings for the Senators and scattered five hits and one run. He did not walk a batter. De La Rosa allowed five hits and two runs in 5 1/3 innings. The start was his longest since June 9th. He walked four and struck out three. Trenton Shortstop Eduardo Nunez was the only the Thunder player with a multi-hit game. He leads the team with 28 multi-hit games this season.
Trenton and Harrisburg play the middle game of their three-game series on Saturday night. RHP Paul Bush (0-0, 0.00) will start for Trenton against Harrisburg LHP Matt Chico (1-2, 3.38). Game time is set for 7:00 p.m.
